Year Three Projects.

Location Recce.

For my Cinematography and Production Design Module, I had to create a portfolio consisting of a location recce and a short piece of film based on a Macbeth monologue. The location recce was made with the idea that there would be no people visible in shot and would also be comprised of pre-visual footage.
For this I was able to come up with the following story:

A Grandfather and Grandson navigate the desolate woodlands in an undisclosed post-apocalyptic setting. There is no longer any civilisation, the world is bleak and has been overtaken by wildlife.

The pair are always looking around them as they move as if something or someone is following them- yet there is no one around but them.

Life is a monotony of moving from point A to B safely, they barely speak, and birdsong and footsteps are all you hear.

They find a small body of water, a break in the never-ending monotony. They pause there for a moment before carrying on their journey to safety.

Macbeth task.

For the Macbeth task, I decided to make an experimental film based on the monologue delivered by Lady Macbeth as she sleepwalks. I found that making an experimental film would be the best way to show Lady Macbeth's disjointed and frantic thoughts and feelings post-murder.
I think that I was perhaps too ambitious as I created a lot of work for myself to do as I was the only person working on this project. Though I feel like the hard work and effort paid off to create an interesting and layered piece.
